R.A.C. MEETING MINUTES 4/25/17

RAC Meeting
April 25, 2017
Minutes

Mazie McMahon called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Committee Members Present: Mary Kendall, Sue Senna, Kathy Stone, Tim Mosher, Charles Franklin and Mazie McMahon
Committee Members Absent: Jo Ann Diana

Old Shuffleboard Court Area
Mazie McMahon gave a presentation on the 2 options (visuals attached) that have been revised from the previous month’s meeting. With the size of the shuffleboard area being so large, a Pavilion with a bocce ball court and horseshoe pit would only take up half of it. The other half could be used for parking.

Option A: Replace the area with a pavilion and a bocce ball court and horseshoe pit. The pavilion would include picnic tables and a grilling area. This option was broken down into 3 suggestions for placement of the pavilion.
1 and 2 - Use half of the courts for the Pavilion and the other half for parking. Option A-1 would have the pavilion and courts going East/West. Option A-2 would have them placed North/South.
3 – Use the entire area for parking and place the pavilion and courts by the fence facing Rt. 60
Option B: Remove the shuffleboard area, replace it with grass and use for additional parking. Put a bocce ball court in the area off of the shuffleboard court next to the outdoor pool and put the horseshoe pit near the woodworking shop.

New Issues
1. Umbrella Bases – It was brought to RAC’s attention that a resident was hit in the head that day by an umbrella that flew loose from a table because there was no umbrella stand. Mazie McMahon said that she had brought to the attention of the Manager at least 3 weeks prior that none of the umbrellas at the outdoor pool had bases and that someone could get hurt. She had been told that it would be taken care of “right away.” She said that she would go to the office first thing the next morning to find out why this hadn’t been taken care of.
2. Tables/Umbrellas - The issue of not having enough tables with umbrellas was brought up again. Mazie said that she would bring this up at the next Management meeting. She did point out that the pool furniture had been custom ordered so even if Management agreed to order additional ones, it would take quite a while to get them.
3. Mosquito Spraying – A resident stated that he had called the County about spraying and during the conversation was told that the Manager of SR could call the County as a representative of 850+ homes and request the spraying. Mazie stated that she would talk to Sharon Hurley, President of the SRHA, about sending a joint letter from the SRHA and RAC requesting this be done and that it be done on a regular basis.
4. Pool Area Cleaning – A resident inquired about the cleaning of the indoor and outdoor pool areas – is this done on a regular basis? RAC will turn this over to the SRHA for discussion with management.
5. New Traffic Pattern – There was discussion regarding the new construction across from the entrance to SR and how this would affect both traffic and security. RAC will turn this over to the SRHA for discussion with management.
Quarterly Meeting with Bob Young
The next quarterly meeting with Bob Young is scheduled for May 16th, 1PM, in the back room of the Activity Center. There was confusion as to whether the meeting was closed or open for residents. Mary Kendall stated that the meeting is open. RAC will discuss the following issues with Mr. Young:
1. Old Shuffleboard Court Area
2. Solar Panels at Outdoor Pool. Note: A resident volunteered to have a solar panel expert look at the current panels to ascertain whether there are enough panels to heat the pool. RAC gave the resident permission to do this.
3. Street Cleaning
4. Status of Tennis/Pickle Ball Courts Resurfacing/Replacement for 4th quarter of 2017/1st quarter of 2018.

The meeting adjourned at 8:03PM.
