RESIDENT ADVISORY COUNCIL (RAC)
MEETING RULES
Cell phones are to be turned off or on mute during the meeting.
PROTOCOL FOR SPEAKERS
It is important that all residents are given the opportunity to express their views. To accomplish this in a reasonable timeframe, residents are asked to adhere to the following:
1. When a resident wishes to speak, s/he will raise her/his hand. The Chairperson will acknowledge the resident. The resident will stand (unless physically unable to) and state her/his name and then speak to the issue/agenda item at hand. Residents are asked to limit their remarks to 3 minutes in order to give other attendees the opportunity to speak.
2. Everyone is to respect each other and each other’s opinion. When the Chairperson, a committee member or a resident is speaking, there are to be no side conversations or interruptions. Should side comments/conversations take place, the Chairperson will stop the meeting and ask for silence.
3. In recognizing persons who wish to speak, the Chairperson will give preference to those who have not already spoken on the issue under discussion.
